Out of 10,000 entries, only 141 made the 3-star Great Taste Awards 2016 grade. Including our Bermondsey Street Honey. And now we’re in the Top 50, with a shot at a “Golden Fork” Award (no sniggering at the back!)
But that’s enough from me. Here’s what the judges said:
Table 7: A beautiful ,clear , slightly golden honey , good consistency, not too runny. Lots of conversation here trying to establish its unique flavour. Lovely golden syrup fruity overtones, we all came back for more !
Table 99: A pale golden honey, an extremely clean palate, a very good floral lift, a little zing and then the sweetness ends with a yellow floral character.
Table 5: We got lavender and orange and strange blossom notes. So clear and so delicious.
Table 6: The deep aroma gives little hint of the extraordinary floral bouquet to come. There’s a wealth of uncloying, elegant flavours with magnificent if gentle length. There’s almost a freshness to this – quite extraordinary
Table 3: A creamy, complex flavour: the rich, delicious taste that lingers lovingly. All the flavours of the garden
We will be selling our honey at our stall at the Bermondsey Street Festival on 17th September 2016. As usual, Apis blog subscribers will receive a preferential offer earlier that month.
Congratulations and Well Done on making the top 50!
